Terms of Use
Last updated: August 2026
1. Acceptance of terms
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of apprenti.dev and the associated application (collectively, the "App"). By installing, accessing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App. For how the App handles data, see our Privacy Policy.
2. What apprenti.dev is
apprenti.dev is a free, Git-native, offline-first apprenticeship app. It runs on Android, Windows, macOS, and Linux. There is no user account and no application backend: your curriculum, progress, reflections, and submissions are stored as files in a Git repository that you host, on a provider you choose (such as GitHub or GitLab). Optional AI features can run fully on-device or, if you configure one, through a third-party cloud AI provider using an API key you supply yourself.
3. License and use grant
apprenti.dev is provided to you free of charge. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, revocable right to install and use the App for personal or organizational apprenticeship, mentoring, and curriculum-authoring purposes. These Terms do not grant you any rights in the App's underlying source code beyond what is separately published and licensed in its public repository, if any; absent a separate license grant stated there, no rights to copy, redistribute, or create derivative works of the App's code are given by these Terms.
Because apprenti.dev is Git-native, curriculum content is designed to be forkable: you may fork, adapt, and share a curriculum repository through ordinary Git operations, subject to whatever license or terms the specific curriculum's author has attached to it. Forking a curriculum does not transfer any rights to the App itself.
4. Your content
Your curriculum data, task state, notes, reflections, evidence, submissions, and mentor reviews live in Git repositories that you control and host yourself. apprenti.dev does not host this content, does not have a copy of it, and claims no ownership over it. You are solely responsible for your content, for who you share repository access with, and for complying with the terms of whatever Git host and, where applicable, whatever curriculum license governs it.
5. AI features
AI features are optional and assistive — they do not replace mentor judgment and never auto-approve a submission or otherwise change review state on their own. You may run AI features fully offline using a local model, or connect a third-party cloud AI provider (for example OpenAI, Mistral, Anthropic, or OpenRouter) using your own API key. If you choose a cloud provider, your use of that provider is governed by that provider's own terms of service and privacy policy, not these Terms. apprenti.dev is not responsible for the availability, output, or accuracy of any third-party AI provider.
6. No warranty
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. apprenti.dev DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT AI-GENERATED OUTPUT WILL BE ACCURATE, COMPLETE, OR SUITABLE FOR ANY PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
7. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, apprenti.dev AND ITS CONTRIBUTORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR OPPORTUNITY, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE APP — INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA IN A REPOSITORY YOU HOST, OR OUTPUT FROM A THIRD-PARTY AI PROVIDER YOU CONFIGURED — EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. BECAUSE THE APP IS PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE, apprenti.dev'S AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATED TO THE APP IS LIMITED TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.
8. Changes to these terms
These Terms may be updated from time to time. Any revision will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after a change becomes effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
9. Contact
There is no account-linked support inbox, since there is no account. For questions about these Terms, send a message through the feedback form. The application repository isn't public yet — once it is, this section will also link directly to its GitHub Issues and Discussions.
